I use a mac. What software do I need to take multiple dvds and create a short highlight reel from them?

These dvds were made from a DV tape I presume. I need to get the content onto a video editor so that I can cut out areas a create a highlight reel from them. The file on the dvd won't load directly into a video editing program. What else will I need to convert it to a file that idvd or something similar will accept? Please help.I use a mac. Final Cut on Mac...
Use Handbrake, link below, to extract a video file from a DVD. Then import the file into iMovie and use it to edit the clip to whatever you like. After you get several clips in iMovie, you can add transition effects and export the project as MPEG-4 unless you need some other format.

If you don't have iMovie, use Simple Video Splicer, link below.
